Weekend Recap

Loving the love!

It feels so good to see so much activity on my blog since I officially launched yesterday! I can tell that I’m really going to enjoy connecting with all of you on this more personal level.

Weekend Highlights:

A little unexpected marketing, food, and simple favors.

IMG_4322Sseko Bucket Bag: During a proactive visit to my local urgent care (I’m fine now, with antibiotics on hand), I actually met a woman in the waiting room who was a  fellow horsewoman and absolutely LOVED my Bucket Bag! She grabbed my info and wants to set up an event where I can share the Sseko mission and products to her peers! She was one of the three people  that morning who commented on how nice the bag was. What a great outcome to a blah morning!

img_4387I’m more and more amazed on the quality of this bag, real talk. It holds so much, and with each use, I can feel the leather softening more and more, and now it’s so soft and flexible! It’s almost like how a fabric tote would drape. I used it on Friday at the barn to hold my 24oz water bottle, my full sized Sseko Zippered Wallet, a full Sseko Tassel Clutch, my teenage niece’s gym shoes, and I still had room for other stuff (well, it was heavy by then, so probably no more stuff)! I have been pretty lazy this whole weekend, so I kept everything in my Bucket Bag instead of switching (which I like to do to match outfits), but it worked out since this bag matches everything anyways. It’s the perfect “throw-in-everything-and-go” tote for sure.

One of the best restaurants for steak is Gibson’s Bar & Steakhouse. We had a fabulous dinner there Sunday night in the Oak Brook location, sitting outside on their waterfall patio. We started off with a half dozen of oysters, kale & avocado salad, and spicy lobster cobb salad. Our table’s entrees included their perfectly cooked medium rare filet sliders, skirt steak, garlic mashed img_4389potatoes, broccolini, and glasses of wine. While looking at the menu, I noticed a few new additions of Australian grass-fed beef and various Australian seafood dishes. I personally don’t think there will be an event where I can justify paying the premium for those dishes, but I’m sure it’s amazing, and if someone else wants to pay for it for ME, I’ll absolutely eat it!

So, if you are ever in the area on a beautiful day, definitely make a reservation for a patio seat! Everything we’ve ever had off of their menu has been delicious and perfectly prepared, so it’ll be difficult to be disappointed.

23760_101241_ps_sd-highA Simple Favor:

Don’t worry, no spoilers! I’ve been pretty excited to see this movie, as I really like the main cast (Blake Lively, Anna Kendrick, and Henry Golding) and the story looked so interesting! Helps that their marketing for this movie TOTALLY got me. I have not read the book, so I don’t have a frame of reference on how it’s SUPPOSED to be like, but I absolutely give this movie a 9/10!

We saw it after our dinner at Gibson’s (nothing better than a dinner & movie night!) It was stylish, funny, suspenseful, and totally kept me guessing throughout the whole movie! It was well shot, well acted, had a great soundtrack, and I think the pacing of the story was perfect. There were a few things I was a little confused about, but they’re not important enough to ruin the movie for me, so yes, if you get a chance, go see it!

amcstubspremiereI am an AMC Stubs member (It’s like $15/year), and it’s pretty awesome, because after every $50 you spend, you get $5 rewards, and you always get free popcorn & drink upgrades, $5 Dollar Tickets on Tuesdays, priority lines for tickets and concessions, waived online ticketing fees, special promotions, screenings, and more! For us, it’s like maybe every 3rd or 4th movie we will get a reward to use, so it’s worth it! They have the A-List member for $19.95/month and the biggest difference from Premiere is that you can see up to 3 movies every WEEK (whoever has time for that, that’s an awesome deal!)

All in all, successful weekend! Totally caught up on sleep, which I totally needed. I’m totally ready for our first vacation THIS YEAR, THIS WEEKEND! Long weekend getaway to the darling town of Galena, IL and Dubuque, IA. We’ve been so busy this whole year, we just haven’t been able to get away, so we’re extra pumped for it.

Stay tuned for that recap, because it’s going to be AMAZING!
