Happy Monday!
Last week was a short work week, since we both took Monday off after our last weekend getaway. You know, having the one day after vacation to just get your bearings back to go back to work? I also have a ton of vacation days I need to use…..
So, anyways, this past weekend, we tried to relax a little more!
Friday
After work, I took my niece to the barn for her riding lesson. I was running late so I didn’t have any of my riding gear, but turns out I wouldn’t be riding anyways. That’s OK, though! I love talking to some of the parents who are watching their kids’ lessons, and I get to see how much my niece is improving with her riding.
I didn’t miss a chance to photograph my Sseko mini ring pouch!
Meet Beau’s Independence (aka Beau’s Indy, or just Indy,) who is a basically a big lapdog horse and hasn’t grown out of getting himself into trouble all the time. He’s super sweet and super naughty, and we love him. After the lesson, I took a very long Epsom salt bath to give myself a “spa night”. Had my Netflix on my phone, strawberries, a Bamboo bathtub tray (ROYAL CRAFT WOOD Luxury Bathtub Caddy Tray), candle burning, and lots of bubbles. Typically, those objects together sounds like a super romantic and possibly frisky night. However, I was enjoying it with me, myself, and I, and it was perfect.
Saturday
In the first half of the day. with our weekly sushi craving, we went to lunch at Chiba Japanese Restaurant (we love their super fresh sushi, lunch combos, and hibachi!) After a short food coma nap,
I spent some time with my furbabies outside, took some nice photos, and watched the Cub’s game on TV.
That night, I went to my friend’s house for a girls’ night, while Brett had some of his friends over. Since Brett and I spend all of our other time together, it’s always good to have your OWN things to do, either with your friends or just on your own. It is very healthy to have independent hobbies and social circles in addition to the shared ones.
Oh, and Brett surprised me with my favorite flavor Bundt cake, red velvet 😋

Sunday
I believe I slept for most of the day (haha, yes…..) Well, OK, so I came home and went to bed around midnight, but Honey and Maeko wake up at 5am to eat and go outside. I take care of their needs in the morning, then go back to sleep. I slept until about noon (maybe 1pm?) and then watched the Cubs game until we went to dinner.
Dinner was at Capri Ristorante, one of our favorite Italian family owned restaurants, where we met up with Brett’s mom and her fiance. Food is always on point there, ambiance is beautiful, and it’s only about 15 minutes from home!
This week, my mom’s birthday is Friday, and I’m taking her out to dinner Thursday. She never really has things or places she REALLY wants to do, so I usually take her to a nice restaurant that she doesn’t normally go to. My dad’s in Taiwan for the Fall, where he teaches philosophy and Taoism for adult school.
For the rest of the weekend, I’m excited to have NO real plans (Yes, I love having no plans.. means I can really just relax without a schedule and be selectively social.)
We DEFINITELY want to see the movies A Star is Born (Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga!) and Venom (AHHH Tom Hardy,) which both come out this weekend! So many talented actors! LOVE the music and talent from Cooper and Gaga, Tom Hardy is a BAMF, and we are huge comic book moviegoers!
I also really want to try that Dell Rhea’s Chicken Basket I brought up in my Friday Favorites post! This weekend…. it will happen…….
Until next time ! Thanks for reading, and hope ya’ll have a wonderful week!
