Gifts, Travel, Planning, and Walks

Finally, I’m back! Long, overdue, but finally here!

It’s been quite a few weeks, and I know it’s been awhile for this post, but I am here to update you on some things and give you a preview of my Wish List!

Starting Nov 1, I have fully transitioned into my new position, and it’s been a whirlwind since then. So, brief background, I used to work in this department two years ago, but a different business segment. Most of the technical work is very familiar to me and came back fairly quickly. I’m mainly focusing on the slight changes in the processes, specifics on accounts, and the new people I’ll be communicating with on inquiries. I like my new team, which is very important when you spend most of your time there! It’s been busy, but I feel very comfortable learning this other business segment! Since it’s much busier, I’m less able to work on anything else in between (like, this blog as an example!) I get home, and all I want to do is watch our shows and do nothing else, if I can help it.

Current Obsessions

I just got my new Plum Paper Planner! I get one every year, and each time I customize it a little differently. It’s better than Erin Condren Planners (in my opinion), because you can customize it way more and it’s less expensive. My planners usually run around $40-50 after all my customization. For all my planner lovers, these are fun! There are so many sticker options to get to make it truly your own. For example, you can change the color, shape, font of your cover text, you can have custom column text for every section in your weekly spread, add as many sticker sheets as you want, and add different sheets for budgeting/meal prep/cleaning/bills/etc. Here’s a look at how I did mine:

I started out with a Bloom Planner (which is smaller, I do still like it, but I like the larger sized 7 x 9 planners now more) in 2015/2016, then in 2017 I got my first Plum Planner. I’ve gotten one every year since then! They started out with a longer lead time for custom orders (I’m talking weeks/month to make), but now they ship really fast (within a week)!

Oh my gosh, I also have the most perfect handmade scarves/wraps for winter from Sseko! The Oversized Plaid Hazelnut Scarf and the Black and White Wanderlust Shawl.

So versatile, goes so well with everything, warm enough for windy cold days, and light enough to breathe and not get too warm. They are both wide enough to wear as shawls, so I’m never cold when I have one of them with me! There’s a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale going on right now to get 25% off these beauties until 11/26/18! Use the code: GIFTSTHATGIVE at checkout!

“Jobs fill your pocket, but adventures fill your soul.” – Jamie Lyn Beatty

With all my vacation days from work, I’ve finally planned them out for the rest of the year. I’m very excited to have a long weekend road trip with one of my best girl friends to Indianapolis, IN and Lexington, KY! We are staying at AirBnB’s in both cities, and will go horseback riding, meet my Sseko Big Sis for the first time in the flesh, and adventure the two cities together! I haven’t done a girls trip in a very long time, so this will be so fun! I can’t wait!

A couple weeks after my road trip, Brett and I will be going to Scottsdale, AZ again during my birthday week! It seems to be a tradition so far, the past few years we’ve been to Scottsdale for during my birthday. The Christmas decorations in Scottsdale are so pretty too! There were so many places we didn’t get to revisit last time, so we will try to get there this time!

Every week for the rest of the year is a short work week for me, with at least a day off or a half day off. As exciting as that sounds, I know it’ll also mean it will fly by since there will be pretty much something going on every week. I will definitely have some me-time too, which is always important when you’re in a relationship! Ah I wish it was December already (almost there!)

Speaking of wishes….

I’ve been thinking about what I want for gifts! Brett and I decided to make wish lists for each other this year, and I love it! I feel like I haven’t gotten an actual wish list from anyone in years, and I like to be able to pick and choose what they really want.

Here are a few items on my wish list:

Bombas Socks

One of the many joys of being an adult, getting super excited about some awesome new socks! They hold up really well and don’t slip down, has good arch support, and has a good cause! They donate a pair of socks to the needy with every purchased pair.  I have some now and they really can’t compare with my other socks. I want to slowly replace my sad socks with happy new socks!

Husky Throw from Spirit Hoods

I absolutely LOVE my Grey Wolf Throw so much! Now I want another one, but this time the Limited Edition White Husky Baja Throw. I use the Grey Wolf throw every time I’m on the couch watching shows, and on road trips to cozy up with in the car. This could also work really well as a backdrop for some flat lays, right?! It’s sold out now, so I don’t know if I will be getting it or not, but it’s so beautiful!

Clinique My Happy Fragrances

I just got these samples in from Clinique of their new fragrances, and I’m in love with the Cocoa & Cashmere scent! I have that one and the Peace & Jasmine scent on my list. I LOVE all the scents in the descriptions:

  • Cocoa & Cashmere: Cocoa, Vanilla, Golden Amber, Musks, Pink Pepper, Jasmine, Honeysuckle, Solar Salicylates. Blissful, Comforting, Addictive.
  • Peace & Jasmine: Mate Tea, Heart of Jasmine, Freesia, Lavender, Pear, Sicilian Lemon, and Guaiacwood. Calm. Bright. Uplifting

Those are some of the items on my list, and I’m still trying to figure out what to get other people! Some have told me what they’re wishing for, so that always helps! Does anyone else also struggle with WHO to get gifts for? When you’re not made of money, it’s hard to get something for everyone! I do hope to get a little something for each person that’s been special to me this year especially. Let’s break out the third credit card…..just kidding. Not really.

Funny side note about my fur-babies:

Maeko is such a lazy bum, but she is very food driven. Usually, after walking past two houses, she starts very discreetly walking towards the grass… to turn around to go back home, like I won’t notice the slight change in direction. Please.

So, I started bringing delicious treats in my pocket to occasionally lure her forward, which then gets her to walk for a little while. She walks for a few minutes, then wanders onto the grass and locks her legs up to not walk anymore… then a treat comes out and she perks up and lunges for it, which gets her to walk a little more. I get her to smell how delicious it is, and after she starts moving, I give it to her after she gets moving, which is usually after a few feet. Once we get far enough away from the house, she walks with minimal resistance. She doesn’t need any help to go “Home” though!

The complete opposite of Honey, who LOVES walking and can walk for miles (especially in cooler temperatures), who won’t even want to come home, and who isn’t even pooped out after it all. She knows where all her “friends” are, gets really excited when approaching their houses, and exchanges many “kind and gentle” words with them. She also has to visit EVERY ONE of them. In the photos above, I have one of Brett carrying Honey home, because she walked/pulled so hard she scraped up her paw and it was bleeding. Also, scrolling through my phone, I have more photos of Maeko sleeping than Honey! Maeko needs to walk more, so if I can get a mile out of her, I’m happy!

Thanks for reading!

Hope you’re all having a wonderful holiday season! There is so much going on, so I will have lots of updates for the next post! I really appreciate everyone who took the time to look through my posts. Enjoy your holidays!

Until next time!
