Weekend Recap: FurBabies, Food, & Friends

Another late post. I’m on a roll.

Yesterday was busy for me, with my transition starting into my new role at work in the morning, meetings and meeting prep in the afternoon, and then a friend came over for a personal styling/shopping session in the evening. I was totally beat! They are all good things though, so I don’t feel as bad that I didn’t get this post out on time.

But, HEY let me tell you about my weekend, since that’s what this post is for, right?

Friday

img_7242It was Jersey Day at work! We have two weeks every October where we donate a portion of our paycheck to participate in various activities. I decided to rock my vintage Cubs batting jersey and KEEP pieces (Cubs bracelet currently on sale for just $42.20 for the set! Click here to get it) It was so much fun to see everyone in their jerseys, supporting their teams!

Saturday

img_7340Started off the day with my furbabies sleeping in like crazy! They usually wake up at 5AM and act like they’re starving dogs, but they slept until 7:45AM! I couldn’t believe it. I actually had a full night sleep, AND I even had to wake them up to remind them they were “hungry”. I’m glad though, since usually I don’t get to sleep in much. I wake up early on the weekdays for work, and then early for my dogs on the weekends. Thanks babies, even though you have no idea how happy you made me that morning!

img_7337We went to Chiba for lunch, and got the usual: three rolls special to share (Philly, Mackerel, and Salmon/Mango), six piece sushi plate for Brett, and steak hibachi entree for me. Again, must I remind you that their chicken fried rice is the BEST we’ve ever tasted, and their hibachi noodles are deliciously flavored as well! Mmmm….Always a good meal.

img_7341That afternoon, I played with Maeko in the backyard, which made me very happy to see her so playful. Honey went on a walk with Brett, and Maeko grabbed her toy to play with me outside. She’s getting older, 12 in December (heyyy golden birthday!), so it makes me very happy to see her with so much energy and playfulness. She gets to stretch her legs out and run around, since she spends most of her day sleeping or just laying down by us. That toy has been her favorite since she was a puppy, so even though it’s torn, dirty, and has a broken squeaker, it’s always her go-to toy when I ask her, “Where is your toy?”

img_7232That night, we went to one of my best friend’s new house for her house warming party! Her mom made the most fantastic Filipino food (Which I missed! I used to have it so much in college as all my friends were Filipino) and the everything else was also delicious! It is awesome to see my friends achieving milestones in life. I’m also very glad she is living much closer to me, so we can hang out more! Even with both of our busy schedules, it’s always nice to know your friends are in close proximity. I’m so proud of her and her boyfriend for making this big step in their relationship. I wish them ALL the best as new homeowners!

Sunday

Sunday morning, Honey and Maeko were back on the 5AM clock (Honey is always really obnoxious about it… her paws are like paddles whacking you in the face), so after waking up to feed them, I went back to sleep for several more hours. I am so glad Brett let them out for me.

img_7339We had a delicious lunch at Mission BBQ of brisket, pulled pork, salmon, meatloaf, and many delicious scratch-made sides. They have weekly specials as well that you won’t find on the online menu (You just gotta go there and see for yourself!)

If you haven’t heard of Mission BBQ, they’re a business that supports our nation’s everyday heroes: Military, Police, Fire, EMT, Veterans, etc. They play the national anthem daily during lunch time for everyone to stand and sing. This is the very impressive list of national organizations they support with donations and fundraising from their proceeds. They have many locations throughout the US, so if you can find a Mission BBQ near you, CHECK IT OUT!

So, overall, a great weekend!

It got me ready for this work week, where I’m working two jobs until my full transition period is complete on November 1. I’m also very excited that my MCT Oil Powder delivered, so now I can have the best bulletproof coffee every day to be my sharpest at work! I’ll do a post about it probably. We’ll see.

Oh dang, we still haven’t seen A Star is Born. Now we also have to watch The First Man, too! Now, we’re behind!!

Thanks for reading!

Stay tuned for my Friday Favorites post this week!
